Day 5-Island Princess Manzanillo, Mexico

What a beautiful port. I wish I could post a photo but it is useless to even try. Pictures will not post in the blog, I am fortunate it posts at all. There are a few tree covered rolling hills with many houses in the port area. It is lush and beautiful. It somewhat reminds me of the Italian seaside of Cinque terra (sp?) a bit with the many boats in port and the houses stacked up on the hillside. Despite knowing better I tried the internet again today. It is pitiful and after just 10 minutes the counter said I was on for 30 minutes. Not really sure how they managed that. We slept in since we had no excursion scheduled. We ate upstairs at the buffet, which was very nice with lots of selections and an omelet station as well. Back to the cabin to freshen up as we have a plan to walk off with Stuart and Darlene at 11a. Unfortunately, Darlene wasn’t up to the walk and the heat today so we went with Stuart. It was a lovely town/city and very clean. We were not mobbed by peddlers either, which was a pleasant surprise. It was extremely humid and after a brief walk we found a place to have a cold beer and a coke. We planned to eat but none of us were hungry so we skipped that. A bit more walking and we found some wine and liquor for later. We took a few photos, chatted with other passengers we happened upon and headed back to the ship. We were pretty wiped out from the heat. We showered, rested, watched a movie and split a club sandwich from room service. Sail away was 4p, rather an early time to leave but it was fine with us. It began to sprinkle as we left. W e saw no sea life leaving port, not even a flying fish! However, dock workers waved as passengers waved and “gracias and good-byes” were shouted both directions. What a lovely place. I could see living a peaceful existence in a place like this. George and Tawny were to come over for G&T at 6p but he called to say they were wiped out from their day on shore and took a rain check. As we head out to sea the waves pick up quite a bit, as does the wind. Another delightful dinner then back to our cabin. The sea has picked up a lot and it is raining now as we head to bed.
