Day 8-Island Princess-NO San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua

Another beautiful port. They also have a Statue of Christ in their port high on a hill (thinking of Rio) and a beautiful rainbow this morning as well. We were up and to our assigned place before our appointed time of 7:15a. Of course there were the late people, which didn’t matter since they canceled the port of call. It didn’t look especially rough to us. In fact after canceling the port we went to the promenade deck and watched some people get on a tender, I guess this was just necessary people getting off with suitcases. They had no rails and simply walked on the tender. I don’t understand the decision but there is nothing we can do about it. Seems typical of Princess, recalling the 3 ports we missed on our TA cruise. We are on this particular cruise since we got a sizable credit from that cruise that needed to be used in 2014. After the final announcement the port was canceled we went to the dining room for breakfast, nicely prepared eggs Benedict. We were back to our cabin by 9a. We pulled anchor and left the area shortly afterwards. Since I got only a couple hours sleep last night we did sleep some this afternoon. I hope we won’t regret that when we want to sleep tonight. We played cards on the balcony as we watched the Nicaraguan coast.  At one point we had a real treat to see dozens of dolphins along the port side. Some came very close but you could also see them hundreds of yards away. A few of them were true “show offs” and shot straight up in the air maybe as high as 20 feet. It was a nice little show that lasted about 15-20 minutes and then we didn’t see them anymore. Another nice dinner with friends and back to our cabin to prepare in hopes of an excursion tomorrow in Costa Rica.
